My gerbil creature by velvetcat
My gerbil creature
I felt like sharing my gerbil that I have for almost a year, because I have this odd urge to upload something atm. She is so lovely, we call her cheese/cheesy/cheesecake or something similar in those lines (sūrelis in lithuanian). I personally call her babe sometimes : D she is a tad shy and cannot be picked easily. But she learned to get on my hand whenever I put it for her, especially around 10pm to 4-5am she has this weird adventuring mode, and basically instantly climbs on my hand so I could pick her up and allow her to climb on me or under my clothes : D
She loves sunflower seeds and I always spoil her with them. During this year that I have her, we changed her cage three times. First one seemed too small, the second one soon also seemed too small, and just recently we bought her a large storage box : D and kinda made it 'homemade'. It's pretty cool and she loves it - more space, more stuff to dig and it doesn't get so messy because she can't dig any of her stuff out of the box. You can see it here www.dropbox.com/sh/ugb1jawg4kg… she has a lovely wooden rodent house on the right side, but she chooses to live in a pickle jar D:

Egg Carrier Creature concept by velvetcat
Egg Carrier Creature concept
Finally some creature art!

This one has a back full of egg sacks, covered with bacteria and white slime.
These eggs form constantly in large amounts, even growing on each other. Each egg has an offspring growing inside and when it is fully formed - the egg detaches from the carrier and drops down, taking together other eggs that were holding onto it. Even if they were not fully formed yet. The whole process is just a mess.

Born infant breaks through from the membrane of the egg and following it's first instinct - eats it and the rest of the fallen egg sacks. After few hours the infant is able to hunt on it's own, as they develop and grow very rapidly.

These creatures are hostile towards anyone and hunt on sight. They prefer living in dark, cold and moist places. Your basement would be a perfect habitat :)
